Milestone Assignment Structure

Major courses are structured around 2–4 milestone assignments leading to a final project. Each milestone is graded separately and builds on the previous one.

Weekly Discussion Boards

Each week requires an initial post responding to the discussion prompt (minimum 250 words) and at least two substantive peer responses citing course sources.

Rubric-Driven Grading

SNHU uses detailed grading rubrics with criteria rated as Exemplary, Proficient, Needs Improvement, or Not Evident. Submissions must address every rubric criterion explicitly.

APA or MLA Formatting

Most graduate courses require APA 7th edition. Undergraduate courses in communications and humanities may use MLA. Course syllabus specifies the required format.

Academic Integrity

SNHU uses Turnitin for plagiarism detection. A similarity score above 20% typically triggers review. All work must be original and properly cited.

8-Week Term Deadlines

Assignments are due by Sunday 11:59pm EST each week. Late submissions are penalized 10% per day. No late submissions accepted after 3 days without prior instructor approval.
