About SU

Understanding SU's Format

Strayer University is one of the oldest for-profit universities in the United States, with a mission rooted in educating working adults. Its curriculum is heavily oriented toward business, technology, accounting, and criminal justice — practical disciplines designed to advance professional careers.

Strayer operates on a quarterly academic calendar — four 11-week terms per year. This is longer than Phoenix's 5-week format but faster than a traditional semester, keeping the pace brisk throughout. Courses include weekly discussions, business case studies, analytical papers, and term projects.

Our Strayer specialists are experienced in the business and technology focus that defines most Strayer programs. They write professional case analyses, strategic management papers, and IT project documentation at the level Strayer faculty expect.

Academic Requirements

What SU Expects

Quarterly Schedule
Strayer's 11-week quarters run four times per year: Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall. Students typically take 1–2 courses per quarter while working full-time.
Discussion Boards
Weekly discussion forums are graded for both initial posts and peer responses. Strayer faculty expect professional tone, accurate content, and citations where applicable.
Case Study Assignments
Business and management courses heavily use real-world case studies. Students must analyze scenarios using course theory and support arguments with academic sources.
Term Projects
Most courses include a multi-part term project submitted in stages throughout the quarter — similar to SNHU's milestone structure but spanning 11 weeks.
Minimum GPA Requirements
Undergraduate programs require a 2.0 GPA minimum. Graduate programs (MBA, MS) require a 3.0 GPA. Academic standing is reviewed each quarter.
iCampus Learning Platform
Strayer uses its iCampus platform for all coursework. Submissions go through SafeAssign plagiarism detection. Late work is penalized per the course syllabus.
